ー皆さんこんにちは。私はインダストリオール・グローバルユニオン書記長のヴァルター・サンチェスです。

I would like once again to commend and congratulate all our unions worldwide in their efforts to fight for the health and safety jobs and income of the members in all the countries that we are present. I would like also to invite you to check on our website because in here, we are keeping an update of all the actions, struggles and achievements that our unions are having globally, so that we can learn from each other and maybe implement the actions in your own countries.

 I would like also to mention that our structure all our staff is working from home because we’re also trying to protect the health and safety of our employees as well, but they’re active and they’re ready to react and support in all the actions in that we need industrial force. So you can count on our structure in the strong global unions with you along with your struggles.
ーまた、本部スタッフの健康と安全の確保のため、全スタッフが在宅勤務をしておりますが、直ちに労働力を必要とする行動に対応できるよう、いつも準備が整っている状態です。私たちは皆様と共に努力いたしますので、この力強いグローバルユニオンを信頼していただきたいと思います。

Last week, I sent a message to all our GFA companies, the companies that we have global agreements with. These are 51 companies, global companies, big companies that employ about 8.7 million workers. If you consider their suppliers, they employ about other 20 million workers.
ー先週、私はすべてのGFA企業、つまり私たちがグローバル枠組み協定を締結している全ての企業にメッセージを送りました。これらは51社のグローバル企業であり、約870万人の従業員を抱える大企業であります。サプライヤーについても考慮すると、他にも2000万人の従業員が存在することになります。

So it’s a big reach and in this message to these companies, I asked them, I urged them to negotiate to engage with negotiation with the unions in terms of shutting down operations where risk is in place for workers, to in case of essential services that all the protective measures are in place, not only protective equipment for the workers but also for the environment.
ーそのため、このメッセージは多数の人々に力が及ぶものとなります。これらの企業へのメッセージでは、労働者にとってリスクのある工場での生産を休止することに対して労働組合の交渉を受け入れることを要請いたしました。また必要不可欠なサービス業においては、労働者のための保護具はもちろん環境へも保護措置が講じられることを要請しました。

We asked them to guarantee full coverage in access to healthcare services, and we asked them also to negotiate alternatives to keep the level of employment and income during this hard period. We also asked them to negotiate and support their suppliers so that suppliers can implement the same measures. In a different approach, I asked them also to consider the possibility of reconversion of the facilities to produce the products that are needed in the healthcare front.
ーさらにあらゆる医療サービスの提供が保障され、この困難な状況の中での雇用と収入の水準を維持するために代替策を交渉できるよう要請しました。また、サプライヤーが同じ対策を実施できるように、サプライヤーと交渉して支援を行うよう依頼いたしました。別のアプローチとして、医療の現場で必要な製品を生産するために施設を再転換することについて検討するよう要請いたしました。

I’m very excited to say that in a number of countries in a number of sectors, workers are offering themselves to produce ventilators, to produce sanitizers, to produce protective equipment, to produce hospital material, and even in plants that are not usually used for this. So I would like to commend these initiatives as well.
ー私が誇りに思っていることは、様々な業界の世界中の労働者たちが、本来工場で生産していない製品にも関わらず、人工呼吸器・消毒液・防護服・医療器具を製造しようと自ら申し出ていることです。私はこの取り組みを非常に評価しています。

We’re also trying to get a separate commitment with some global brands from textile garment sector. This is a huge sector with millions of workers in supply chain that must be protected their jobs and their income during this period.
ー別の取り組みとして、私たちは一部のグローバル衣料ブランドのコミットメントを得ようとしています。これらのブランドは、サプライチェーンに何百万人もの労働者がいる巨大なセクターであり、この厳しい状況の中において、彼らの雇用と収入を確保する必要があります。

I would also like to mention that we along with the other global unions, we’re taking a number of steps together in a coordinated effort to also urge the multilateral organizations like the G20 that made available 5 trillion dollars, so this money goes to people not to bail out to companies. And we are also in contact with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the International Financial Institutions, so they also put resources available to countries, so these goes to social protection for workers globally.
ーまた、他のGUFと強調していくつかのステップを踏み、5兆ドルを投入するG20のような多国間組織にも、資金が企業に渡るのではなく、人々に還元されるよう働きかけています。さらに、私たちは国際通貨基金・世界銀行・国際金融機関とも連携し、世界中の労働者の社会的保護に活用されるよう資金が各国へ投入されるよう連携しています。

Once again, I would like to commend and congratulate all our workers that are in the industry, that are working in producing goods for the healthcare front, because they’re playing a very important role and I would like to commend all the efforts of our workers, congratulate them in all their efforts to fight this pandemic.
ー繰り返しになりますが、医療製品製造に携わる全ての業界の労働者たちを称賛したいと思います。彼らは非常に重要な役割を果たしております。私は彼らの努力を称え、このパンデミックに立ち向かう彼らの奮闘を誇りに思います。
